Kenya’s Africa Spirits Limited (ASL) has emerged victorious in a legal battle concerning its Glen Rock whisky brand. The company faced a trademark and passing-off case initiated by the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA).
The SWA, representing over 90 whisky producers from the UK and Scotland, argued that ASL's branding and advertising for Glen Rock No. 1 could confuse Kenyan consumers into believing the whisky was produced in Scotland.
This ruling marks a significant win for ASL, allowing them to continue manufacturing and selling their Glen Rock whisky without the threat of legal challenges from the SWA.
