Airtel Mobile Commerce N.V., the parent company of Airtel Money, has set its initial public offering (IPO) price at £1.96 per share, leading to an estimated market capitalization of £5.3 billion (approximately $7 billion) upon its listing on the London Stock Exchange.
The announcement was made on October 1, following a prior declaration on September 23 regarding the IPO plans. Airtel Money aims to list its ordinary shares on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, with conditional trading expected to begin on October 9, 2026, and unconditional dealings starting on October 14.
The IPO will involve the sale of 270 million existing shares by certain shareholders, with an additional 27 million shares available through an over-allotment option. Airtel Africa will remain a long-term strategic shareholder, supporting Airtel Money's growth as an independent entity.
The company anticipates that approximately 16.5% of its issued ordinary share capital will be publicly held, potentially increasing to 17.5% if the over-allotment option is fully utilized. The retail offer will be available only to UK residents, with a minimum application amount set at £250.
Airtel Money's listing is part of Airtel Africa's strategy to unlock value from its mobile money operations, which reported $1.346 billion in revenue for the financial year ending March 2026. The listing is expected to broaden Airtel Money's access to international investors, enhancing its financial performance in the competitive market.
