AllUnity Launches USDAU: A New USD-Pegged Stablecoin for Europe

AllUnity, a European stablecoin issuer, has announced the launch of USDAU, its fourth fiat-backed stablecoin, which is pegged to the US dollar. This move expands its lineup that already includes stablecoins backed by the euro, Swiss franc, and Swedish krona.

USDAU will maintain a 1:1 peg to the US dollar through segregated reserves and will debut on multiple blockchain platforms, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Arc, and Polygon. This launch comes as dollar-pegged tokens continue to dominate the global stablecoin market.

Currently, US dollar-backed tokens make up over 99% of the approximately $291 billion global stablecoin market, raising concerns among European policymakers about the implications of this dominance. The European Central Bank has warned that increased reliance on dollar stablecoins could undermine the euro's role in tokenized finance.

AllUnity CEO Alexander Höptner emphasized that the primary concern is not the dollar itself, but rather the liquidity flowing through offshore issuers without European oversight. He believes USDAU will provide European companies with better access to dollar liquidity for global trade and cross-border payments.

This launch reflects AllUnity's commitment to enhancing regulatory compliance under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework while addressing the needs of the European market.
