Berger Paints Reports 14.8% Profit Surge, Declares Dividend Amid Cost Challenges

Berger Paints Nigeria Plc has released its financial results for the nine months ending September 30, 2026, revealing a pre-tax profit of N1.68 billion, a 14.8% increase from N1.46 billion during the same period in 2025. The company also declared an interim dividend of 50 kobo per share, amounting to N144.91 million, with payments scheduled for November 20, 2026.

This growth in profit is particularly noteworthy given the backdrop of rising operational costs. While revenue increased by 7.4% to N10.01 billion, the most significant boost came from gross profit, which surged 26.6% due to a reduction in production costs. The gross profit margin improved from 44.2% to 52.1%, indicating that Berger Paints has managed to retain a larger portion of its revenue despite the challenging economic environment. However, this positive trend was somewhat offset by a staggering 60.5% rise in administrative expenses, which highlights the ongoing pressures businesses face in Nigeria.

Investors will be closely monitoring how Berger Paints navigates these cost challenges moving forward, especially as the company balances operational efficiency with profitability. The strong performance could serve as a bellwether for the broader Nigerian stock market, potentially attracting more investment into the manufacturing sector as companies demonstrate resilience. Additionally, with the company’s stock price having surged 207.5% year-to-date, market participants may be encouraged to reassess their positions on Nigerian equities, particularly in sectors that show similar growth potential.
