Bitget Updates Security Breach: $388M in Assets Affected

Crypto exchange Bitget has released an updated report regarding its recent security breach, revealing that approximately $388 million in assets were affected—$35 million more than initially reported.

The breach, which was announced on Thursday, involved significant transfers to attacker-controlled addresses, with Bitget confirming that $387.5 million was transferred during the incident. The revised figure accounts for assets on Zcash and TRON that were not included in the original estimate.

Withdrawals remain paused as Bitget works to mitigate the impact of the breach. The exchange has launched a bounty program aimed at incentivizing the freezing or recovery of the stolen assets.

The incident has highlighted vulnerabilities across multiple networks, including Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, the XRP Ledger, and others. Among the stolen assets were XRP, Ether (ETH), Tether’s USDt (USDT), and various other cryptocurrencies.

Despite the updates, the breach remains one of the largest in the industry, underscoring ongoing security challenges in the crypto space.
