Cadbury Nigeria's Profits Rise Amidst Rising Costs and Expanding Exports

Cadbury Nigeria Plc has announced a notable 4.75% increase in pre-tax profit, reaching N14.48 billion for the nine months ending September 30, 2026. This growth comes alongside a 6.24% rise in revenue, which hit N126.69 billion compared to N119.25 billion during the same period last year. The company’s gross profit surged by 31.55%, reflecting improved profitability despite rising operational costs.

This performance is significant as it underscores Cadbury's ability to navigate a challenging economic landscape. While domestic sales only increased by 1.8%, the company saw a remarkable 106.1% surge in export revenue, which now constitutes approximately 8.2% of total revenue. This shift towards international markets is crucial for Cadbury, especially as the Nigerian economy faces inflationary pressures and currency volatility. The increase in gross margins, despite higher selling and distribution expenses, indicates that the company is effectively managing its production costs, a vital factor for sustainability in the current economic climate.

Looking ahead, investors will be keen to see how Cadbury manages its distribution expenses and whether it can maintain its improved gross margins as it expands its export operations. Additionally, the recent changes in leadership, including the appointment of Ayman Fahmy Gaafar as Managing Director, may bring new strategies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. As global markets continue to evolve, Cadbury’s performance could serve as a bellwether for other companies in the region, particularly those in the consumer goods sector.
