Crypto PAC Invests $11M to Challenge Sherrod Brown in Ohio Senate Race

The Defend American Jobs PAC, backed by the cryptocurrency industry, has reported spending more than $11 million on advertisements aimed at opposing Democratic candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio's Senate race. This significant financial move supports Republican Jon Husted, who is vying for a Senate seat.

In a recent filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the PAC disclosed that its ad buys are part of Fairshake's commitment to spend an initial $30 million to influence the election. Brown, a former chair of the Senate Banking Committee, has been a vocal critic of pro-crypto legislation, making him a target for crypto-aligned political efforts.

In the 2024 elections, the Ohio Senate race saw over $300 million in spending from external groups, with crypto PACs contributing approximately $41 million to oppose Brown. The previous election resulted in a narrow victory for the Republican candidate, highlighting the stakes involved in this political battle.

Additionally, the crypto industry is backing other political figures in Ohio, including Vivek Ramaswamy, who is running for governor. His campaign has garnered substantial support from notable figures in the crypto sector, indicating a broader trend of financial backing for pro-crypto candidates in the state.
