GTCO Reports N262.6 Billion Interest Income from Foreign Subsidiaries in H1 2026

Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) generated N262.58 billion in interest income from its African and UK subsidiaries during the first half of 2026, contributing about 30% to the Group's total interest income. This figure reflects an 11.23% decline from N295.79 billion in the same period of 2025.

Despite the drop in foreign income, GTCO's Nigerian operations thrived, with interest income rising to N610.81 billion, up from N516.57 billion a year prior. This growth led to a total interest income increase for the Group to N873.39 billion, compared to N812.36 billion in H1 2025.

GTCO's international banking presence spans 10 African nations and the UK, primarily through Guaranty Trust Bank Limited (GTBank). The Group holds significant stakes in subsidiaries across various countries, with ownership levels ranging from 77.81% to full ownership in several markets.

Despite challenges in foreign interest income, GTCO reported a slight increase in profit before tax to N603.03 billion. However, profit after tax fell to N414.19 billion due to higher tax expenses. The Group's total assets grew to N18.62 trillion, with customer deposits also rising significantly.

The Board has proposed an interim dividend of N1.00 per share for shareholders, reflecting the Group's continued commitment to returning value amid a diversified geographic footprint that increasingly relies on its Nigerian operations for growth.
