Honeywell Flour Mills Reports Record Profit Surge, Signals Strong Recovery

Honeywell Flour Mills Plc has reported an extraordinary 1,115.17% surge in pre-tax profit, reaching N31.40 billion for the six months ending September 30, 2026. This remarkable increase, compared to N2.58 billion in the same period last year, is attributed to enhanced operating margins and improved performance across its segments. Additionally, the company revealed a 41.29% rise in revenue, climbing to N233.79 billion from N165.47 billion.

This significant financial turnaround is noteworthy as it surpasses the entire pre-tax profit reported for the previous fiscal year, indicating a robust recovery trajectory for the company. Factors contributing to this success include lower operating expenses, a transition from net finance expenses to income, and a dramatic increase in gross profit by 184.62%. The improvement in gross and operating margins—from 7.15% to approximately 14.40% and from 2.23% to 12.04%, respectively—demonstrates Honeywell's effective cost management and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, market observers will be keen to see if Honeywell can maintain this momentum, particularly in managing its increased borrowings, which rose by nearly 61% to N52.27 billion. The company's reliance on short-term financing could pose risks if not balanced by sustainable cash flow from operations. Investors will also be monitoring the recovery of intercompany loan receivables and whether the positive operating cash flow can support ongoing capital expenditures without further increasing debt levels.
