Jambojet Halts Mombasa-Zanzibar Flights Amid Rising Costs

Jambojet, a low-cost airline based in Nairobi, has announced the suspension of its direct flights between Mombasa and Zanzibar. This decision comes in response to a significant rise in fuel costs and the introduction of mandatory travel insurance in Tanzania, which have made the route commercially unviable.

The airline ceased operations on this route in mid-September, leaving it without any international destinations. This follows the earlier discontinuation of flights to Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo in January of the previous year.

As a result, Jambojet is focusing on its domestic routes while navigating the challenges posed by rising operational costs and regulatory changes in the region.
