Kenyan Sugarcane Farmers Earn Sh33.5 Billion Amid 52.3% Delivery Surge

Kenya’s sugarcane farmers have seen a significant boost in earnings, reaching an estimated Sh33.5 billion in the seven months leading up to July. This increase is attributed to a remarkable 52.3% surge in cane deliveries.

During this period, farmers delivered 5.94 million tonnes of cane, a substantial rise from 4.12 million tonnes in the same timeframe last year. This increased supply has played a crucial role in enhancing domestic sugar production.

As a result, domestic sugar output climbed to 528,874 tonnes, contributing to a reduction in consumer prices. The growth in the sugarcane sector reflects a positive trend for local farmers and the economy.
