May & Baker Nigeria Plc has announced a significant pre-tax profit of N8.92 billion for the nine months ending September 2026, marking an impressive 81.5% increase from N4.92 billion during the same period last year. The company’s third-quarter profits alone jumped to N4.07 billion, up from N1.70 billion, showcasing a strong upward trend in financial performance.
This surge in profitability is attributed to a 4.89% increase in revenue, which reached N30.97 billion, primarily driven by the pharmaceutical segment. The company’s ability to enhance its profit margins faster than its revenue growth indicates improved operational efficiency. Furthermore, a notable reduction in borrowings from N6.42 billion to N3.25 billion has alleviated the company’s debt burden, contributing positively to its financial health.
Investors and market analysts are keenly observing May & Baker’s balance sheet movements, particularly the increase in inventory levels and trade payables. While the rise in cash generated from operations to N5.25 billion reflects strong operational performance, the growing inventory could signal potential cash flow challenges if not managed effectively. As the pharmaceutical sector continues to evolve, stakeholders will be watching closely to see if May & Baker can sustain its growth trajectory while effectively managing its working capital and investment needs.
