Renaissance Capital Boosts Dangote Refinery Valuation by 33.4% Amid Strong Earnings

Renaissance Capital Africa (RCA) has significantly increased its valuation of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE to N700.41 per share, marking a 33.4% premium over the initial public offering (IPO) price of N525. This adjustment follows a remarkable earnings report for the nine months ending September 2026, where the refinery's revenues and net profits exceeded RCA's forecasts, showcasing the refinery's robust financial health.

This upward revision is critical as it reflects the refinery's strong recovery from a net loss of $117.2 million in the same period last year to a net profit of $4.73 billion. Revenue surged by 144.5% year-on-year, driven by improved refining margins, particularly during the third quarter. RCA's analysis attributes this performance to favorable market conditions, including increased refining margins across key markets, such as the US Gulf Coast and Rotterdam, which are essential benchmarks for Dangote's operations.

Looking ahead, investors should monitor the implications of this valuation increase on Nigeria's broader financial landscape. As Dangote Refinery continues to outperform expectations, it could attract more foreign investment into Nigeria’s oil sector, potentially stabilizing the Naira and enhancing investor confidence in local equities. Furthermore, as the refinery positions itself as a major player in the global fuel supply chain, its success may influence other African markets, encouraging similar investments in refining capacity across the continent.
