Sequans Completes Exit from Bitcoin Treasury, Sells Remaining 314 BTC

Sequans Communications, a semiconductor company based in France, has officially exited its Bitcoin treasury strategy by selling its remaining 314 BTC. This decision marks the end of a strategy that once included over 3,200 BTC in holdings.

The company announced that this move comes after redeeming its convertible debt in May, allowing Sequans to concentrate on its primary business areas, including cellular internet-of-things (IoT) and software-defined radio.

CEO Georges Karam stated that the sales of Bitcoin were instrumental in eliminating the company's convertible debt and improving its financial standing. Following this sale, Sequans has no cryptocurrency holdings and only minimal debt related to government-funded research and development.

Sequans initially launched its Bitcoin treasury strategy in June 2025 but began reducing its holdings within six months. By May 2026, the company indicated it was no longer pursuing this strategy and would gradually liquidate its remaining Bitcoin assets.

This trend of companies exiting Bitcoin treasury strategies is becoming more common in 2026, as many firms reassess their crypto holdings amidst a challenging market environment. Notable companies like Bitdeer and Genius Group have also fully liquidated their Bitcoin positions this year.
