Authorities at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have uncovered a smuggling scheme involving high-end smartphones, thanks to the suspicious travel patterns of a passenger making repeated short trips to Dubai.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) noted that the unusual frequency of the passenger's trips raised red flags, prompting customs officers to investigate further.
This scrutiny led to the interception of 40 undeclared iPhones, valued at Sh8.2 million, highlighting the ongoing challenge of smuggling high-value electronics into the country.
