About ABBEY BANK PLC

Abbey Mortgage Bank PLC was founded in 1991 by Rose Ada Okwechime, initially operating as Abbey Building Society Plc, with a core mission to provide accessible housing solutions for Nigerians. Incorporated in August 1991 and licensed as a primary mortgage institution in January 1992, the company steadily evolved, becoming a public limited liability company in 2005 and listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2008. The institution adopted its current name, Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc, in January 2014. Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, it stands as one of the national Primary Mortgage Banks licensed by both the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). The bank's business model centers on offering comprehensive mortgage services, financial advisory, and real estate construction finance to both corporate and individual clients across Nigeria. Its diverse product portfolio includes personal banking offerings such as savings, current, and fixed deposit accounts, alongside specialized products like Abbey Save, Abbey Plus, Bloom Kidz, Bloom Teenz, and Abbey Zoomers. For businesses, it provides Abbey Biz, Biz Extra, and fixed deposit options. Key loan products encompass mortgage loans, equity release, mortgage refinancing, construction finance, and the WIRE (Women In Real Estate) initiative, which supports women-owned real estate companies. The bank also offers fund management services, digital banking, debit cards, and prepaid cards, serving customers through branches predominantly in southern and northern Nigeria, including major cities like Lagos and Abuja.
