FCMB GROUP PLC.
FCMB Group Plc traces its origins to 1977 with the establishment of City Securities Limited (CSL), an investment banking firm founded by the late Oloye Subomi Balogun. Building on this foundation, First City Merchant Bank was founded in 1982, marking the first Nigerian bank to be established without government or foreign support. It was incorporated as a private limited liability company in April 1982 and received its banking license in August 1983. The institution transitioned to a public limited liability company in July 2004 and was subsequently listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in December 2004. The current holding company structure, FCMB Group Plc, was formed to encompass its diverse financial operations, aligning with regulatory requirements. FCMB Group Plc operates as a comprehensive financial services provider, primarily serving individual and corporate customers across Nigeria, with an additional presence in the United Kingdom through FCMB (United Kingdom) Limited. Its core business spans three main segments: commercial and retail banking, investment banking, and asset and wealth management. The Group offers a wide array of products and services, including personal and business banking accounts, various loan facilities, investment products like fixed deposits and mutual funds, foreign exchange services, and digital banking solutions. Key subsidiaries under the FCMB Group umbrella include First City Monument Bank Limited for commercial and retail banking, FCMB Capital Markets Limited and CSL Stockbrokers Limited for investment banking and brokerage services, and FCMB Pensions Limited, FCMB Asset Management Limited, and FCMB Trustees Limited for asset and wealth management.
