Eterna PLC, an integrated energy company, was incorporated on January 13, 1989, as Eterna Oil & Gas Limited, commencing business activities in 1991. The company re-registered as a public limited company in 1997. Eterna established a technical trading relationship with Castrol BP in 1991, securing a distributorship agreement and exclusive rights to import and market Castrol products across Nigeria and the ECOWAS sub-region. This collaboration led to the development of a world-class lubricants blending plant and a state-of-the-art laboratory in Africa, dedicated to manufacturing both Castrol and Eterna branded products. In October 2021, Preline Limited acquired a controlling stake in Eterna PLC, making Eterna a subsidiary of Preline Limited. The company's core business revolves around the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of lubricants and chemicals, alongside the trading and retail sale of various petroleum products. Eterna's offerings include fuels, lubricants, petroleum storage, chemicals, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). It is engaged in the manufacturing and sale of lubricating oils and petrochemicals, as well as the importation and retail sale of bulk petroleum products such as premium motor spirit (PMS), automotive gas oil (AGO), low pour fuel oil (LPFO), base oils, and bitumen. Eterna also provides bunkering services, gas distribution, and the marketing of LPG and natural gas. The company serves industrial customers and operates an extensive network of retail filling stations across Nigeria, with its manufacturing and distribution capabilities catering to the broader West African markets.
