About GUINEA INSURANCE PLC.

GUINEA INSURANCE PLC traces its origins to 1948, initially established as an insurance department by the British West African Corporation Limited (BEWAC) to serve as Chief Agents for Legal and General Assurance Society Limited of London in Nigeria. The agency expanded by 1950 to include Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society Limited. This collaborative foundation led to the formal incorporation of Guinea Insurance Company Limited on December 3, 1958, involving Legal & General Assurance Society Limited, Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society Limited, Northern Region Development Corporation Limited, and BEWAC. The company, which became a Public Limited Company on January 17, 1991, transitioned to full Nigerian ownership by 1988, having initially operated with a majority overseas shareholding that shifted in response to the 1976 indigenization decree. Today, GUINEA INSURANCE PLC operates as a prominent Nigerian insurer, specializing in underwriting various classes of general insurance and special risks for both individual and corporate clients across Nigeria. Its core business focuses on providing comprehensive financial risk solutions through diverse offerings. The company's product portfolio includes motor insurance, fire insurance, marine and aviation insurance, engineering insurance, bond insurance, general accident policies, oil and gas insurance, agricultural insurance, travel insurance, and fire and special perils insurances. Guinea Insurance conducts its operations through dedicated segments encompassing motor, marine and aviation, general accident, and fire, serving its clientele primarily from its headquarters in Lagos.
