About THE OKOMU OIL PALM COMPANY PLC

Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, a prominent player in Nigeria's agricultural sector, commenced operations in 1976, initially established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in Edo State. The company's formation aimed to address Nigeria's domestic vegetable oil deficit through the development of large-scale industrial palm plantations. In 1990, the company transitioned into a Public Limited Company (PLC) as part of a government privatization program, leading to the Socfin Group acquiring a majority stake. This shift brought significant private investment, enabling modern production equipment and plantation expansions. Over time, Okomu diversified its operations, introducing rubber cultivation in 1998, and continues to prioritize responsible tropical agriculture with a focus on sustainable practices and community development. The core business model of Okomu Oil Palm Plc revolves around the cultivation and processing of oil palm and rubber. The company's primary products include crude palm oil, palm kernel, palm kernel oil, and palm kernel cake derived from its oil palm plantations, as well as natural rubber products from its rubber plantations. Okomu operates through dedicated Palm Plantation, Rubber Plantation, and Palm and Rubber Processing segments, engaging in the processing of fresh fruit bunches into crude palm oil for resale and the conversion of rubber lumps into rubber cake, largely for export. While its main operational base and plantations are in Nigeria, particularly in Edo State, the company's products serve domestic and international markets, with ongoing plantation operations in countries such as Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, and Indonesia. Okomu Oil is recognized as one of Nigeria's largest producers of crude palm oil and a significant player in the domestic rubber market.
