About ROYAL EXCHANGE PLC.

Royal Exchange Plc traces its origins to 1918 when it began operations in Nigeria, initially represented by Barclays Bank DCO. The company evolved from a branch of its then-parent company, Royal Exchange Assurance, London, which itself was founded in 1720 as one of Britain's first chartered insurance companies. Reconstituted and incorporated as Royal Exchange Assurance (Nigeria) Limited in 1969, it became a publicly traded company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1990. In 2008, the company rebranded to Royal Exchange Plc, adopting a group structure and transforming into a diversified financial services provider with a focus on investment holding and asset management. Today, Royal Exchange Plc operates as a Nigerian financial services group, offering a broad spectrum of solutions primarily within Nigeria. Its core business encompasses general insurance, life assurance, and healthcare insurance, alongside various financial services such as credit financing, microfinance banking, wealth management, and trusteeship services. The company serves individuals and businesses across Nigeria through an extensive network. Key subsidiaries driving its operations include Royal Exchange General Insurance Company Limited, Royal Exchange Prudential Life Plc (focusing on life assurance), Royal Exchange Finance Company (for financial and advisory services), Royal Exchange Healthcare Limited (now known as Dot HMO, providing health management services), and Royal Exchange Microfinance Bank Limited, which offers general financial and banking services, particularly to small-scale industries.
