Spire Inc., founded in 1857 and headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a U.S.-based energy company primarily engaged in the natural gas sector. Formerly known as The Laclede Group, Inc. until its renaming in April 2016, Spire focuses on the acquisition, retail distribution, and sale of natural gas to a wide array of consumers, including residential, commercial, industrial, and various other end-users. Its business operations are divided into two main divisions: Gas Utility and Gas Marketing. Beyond its core gas supply activities, the company also provides natural gas marketing services, manages the pipeline transport of propane, offers natural gas compression, engages in risk management, and delivers physical natural gas storage solutions, alongside other related endeavors.
