About BERGER PAINTS PLC

Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, a prominent entity in the Nigerian coating industry, originated in 1959 as British Paints (West Africa), established as a subsidiary of the global Lewis Berger Group from the United Kingdom. The company commissioned its first paint factory in March 1962, marking a significant step in local production. In 1969, it underwent an acquisition by Berger, Johnson & Nicholson, leading to its renaming as Berger Paints Nigeria Limited. Further evolution saw the company become the first paint manufacturer to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1973, following the Nigerian Enterprise Promotion Decree of 1972 which necessitated the divestment of 60% of its shares. The company's name changed to Berger Paints Plc in 1989 and by 2009, it achieved full indigenous ownership. The company's core business revolves around the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of a comprehensive array of paints and allied products, alongside providing professional painting services and managing investment properties. Its extensive product portfolio includes decorative paints under brands like Luxol, Superstar, Robiallac, and Texcote, as well as a specialized non-decorative range for industrial, marine, automotive, and wood applications. These offerings encompass protective coatings, wood finishes such as Bergenol and Lignolac, and pre-decoratives like Rufhide and various primers. Berger Paints Nigeria Plc primarily serves the Nigerian market, catering to both the manufacturing and construction sectors through a network of outlets across the country. A notable subsidiary is Swift Painting Nigeria Limited, which delivers advanced painting services utilizing mechanized tools and skilled professionals.
