About DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERY PLC

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc (DSR) commenced operations in March 2000 as the sugar division of Dangote Industries Limited, establishing its prominent position within the Nigerian food and beverage sector. The company's sugar refining factory at Apapa port was commissioned in 2001, initially equipped to process 600,000 metric tons of raw sugar annually. This marked a significant step in Nigeria's industrial landscape, and DSR later became a publicly listed entity on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in March 2007, further solidifying its presence. Over time, the Apapa facility has undergone substantial upgrades, transforming it into one of the largest sugar refineries globally, with an installed capacity of 1.44 million metric tons per annum. As a subsidiary of the larger Dangote Group, DSR plays a crucial role in the conglomerate's diverse portfolio. The core business of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc centers on refining raw sugar, primarily imported from Brazil, into high-quality, Vitamin A-fortified white granulated sugar, which is then marketed and distributed under the "Dangote Sugar" brand. The company supplies both direct consumers and a wide array of industrial users, including major blue-chip companies in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical sectors across Nigeria. Beyond refining, DSR is actively engaged in backward integration projects focused on cultivating sugarcane and milling it into finished sugar, notably at its integrated sugar estate in Numan, Adamawa State. This initiative aligns with Nigeria's National Sugar Development Master Plan, aiming for national self-sufficiency in sugar production. Dangote Sugar serves the Nigerian market extensively and also exports its products to neighboring countries in the West African sub-region.
