At its inception, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), held a majority equity interest of 60%, with four foreign airlines—Air France, British Airways, Sabena, and Lufthansa—sharing the remaining 40%. Over time, NAHCO underwent a significant transformation, being privatized in 2005 and subsequently listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2006, shifting its ownership structure to a broader base of shareholders.
