Nigerian Breweries Plc, established in 1946 as Nigerian Brewery Limited, holds the distinction of being the pioneer and largest brewing company in Nigeria. Its operations commenced with the production of STAR Lager beer in June 1949 from its Lagos brewery. Over the decades, the company expanded its footprint across Nigeria, commissioning multiple breweries and eventually changing its name to Nigerian Breweries Plc in 1990 to reflect its public limited liability status. As a subsidiary of Heineken N.V., its core business revolves around the brewing, marketing, and sale of a diverse range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The company's extensive product portfolio includes popular lager beers such as Star, Gulder, Heineken, Goldberg, and Life Continental Lager, alongside stout brands like Legend Extra Stout and Turbo King. Beyond alcoholic beverages, it produces leading non-alcoholic malt drinks like Maltina and Amstel Malta, as well as soft drinks and energy drinks including Fayrouz and Climax. Expanding its offerings, Nigerian Breweries also includes a range of wines, spirits, and flavored alcoholic beverages under brands like Amarula Cream Liqueur and Nederburg, following the acquisition of a majority stake in Distell Wines and Spirits Nigeria Limited. While its primary market is Nigeria, the company maintains an export business to various international destinations, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States of America, Canada, other parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
