About VITAFOAM NIGERIA PLC

Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, a prominent manufacturer of foam products, traces its origins to August 4, 1962, when it was incorporated as a joint venture between British Vita Plc and Central and West Africa (C.W.A) Holdings, a subsidiary of Unilever Plc. The company began its operations with the appointment of G.B. Ollivant (Nigeria) Limited as its sole distributor in Nigeria in November 1962. A significant milestone was reached in 1966 with the installation of a continuous polyether foaming plant at its first factory in Ikeja, Lagos, enabling the production of polyether foam products. Over the years, Vitafoam expanded its manufacturing footprint across Nigeria, establishing factories in Aba in 1972, Kano in 1974, and Jos in 1982, solidifying a nationwide presence. The company became a public entity in 1978, listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, in compliance with the Nigerian Promoter Decree No. 3 of 1977, which mandated companies to sell a portion of their shares to the Nigerian public. Today, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc stands as a leading manufacturer of flexible, reconstituted, and rigid foam products, along with fibre products and textile linens. Its diverse product portfolio includes a wide array of mattresses of various resilience and texture, pillows, and specialized foam-based items such as baby products like changing mats and cot mattresses. The company also offers technical foam products, including rigid polyurethane foam utilized in industrial applications like refrigeration, air conditioning, and insulation materials for building. Beyond foam, Vitafoam manufactures furniture and other related products, including wood and metal-based furniture. Vitafoam serves a broad consumer and industrial market across Nigeria and other West African countries, maintaining a significant distribution network to facilitate timely delivery. Key subsidiaries that support its operations and product diversification include Vitapur (insulation products), Vitablom (fiber products), Vitavisco (visco-elastic foam products), Vitaparts (automotive filters), and Vono Furniture Products Limited. The company's commitment to quality is underscored by its status as the first foam manufacturing company in Nigeria to obtain NIS ISO 9002 certification, later upgraded to ISO 9001:2015.
