CADBURY NIGERIA PLC.
Cadbury Nigeria Plc traces its origins to the 1950s when Cadbury Schweppes began sourcing cocoa beans from Nigerian farms and importing bulk products for local repackaging. The company was formally incorporated on January 9, 1965, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes, subsequently establishing its first manufacturing facility in Ikeja, Lagos. In 1976, Cadbury Nigeria became a publicly quoted company, listing on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) under the ticker CADBURY, with a portion of its shares divested to Nigerian investors. Over time, the company's ownership structure evolved, and it is now majority-owned by Cadbury Schweppes Overseas Limited, a subsidiary of Mondelēz International, Inc. The company's core business involves the manufacturing and marketing of confectionery, food beverages, and various fast-moving consumer products. Its diverse product portfolio features popular malted beverages like Cadbury Bournvita and Cadbury 3-in-1 Hot Chocolate, along with a range of sugar confectionery including TOM TOM, Trebor Cadbury Buttermint, Cadbury Eclairs, Hacks, Ginger, and Ahomka. Cadbury Nigeria also produces gum and mint products such as Clorets, Bubbaloo, and Halls, alongside chocolate bars like Cadbury Dairy Milk. The company operates through distinct segments: Refreshment Beverages, Confectionery, and Intermediate Cocoa Products, serving primarily the Nigerian domestic market and exporting to other West African countries. A key operational division is Stanmark Cocoa Processing Company, its cocoa processing facility in Ondo State, which transforms cocoa beans into cocoa powder, cocoa butter, and cocoa liquor, supplying both internal production needs and export markets.
